ABRSM exercises

Grade 1 to Grade 8, graded and filtered.

The exercise library is tagged by ABRSM grade — filter to the grade you're sitting and work the list. Scales, arpeggios, broken chords and contrary motion, each set for hand, octaves and tempo, from the first scale to the exam programme. Nothing about it leaves your machine.

Step-mode drill

It waits for the right note.

The hard bars get the repetition they need. Step-mode holds until you play the right note, then keeps your pace — so a tricky passage gets drilled at the speed you can actually play it clean, not the speed the page demands.

Run summary

What every run reports.

Accuracy

The share of notes you played correctly, alongside a weighted score that counts the harder notes for more.

Streak & multiplier

Your longest run of clean notes and the highest multiplier you reached before a miss.

Perfect / good / miss

Every note sorted into perfect, good or miss, totalled into a star rating against your personal best.

Illustrative example values — your results will vary by piece and session.

Scored drills

Every run scored.

Drill mode keeps the count: accuracy, weighted score, longest streak, and a clean perfect / good / miss split. Beat your last run and it tells you — and it knows when a clean pass still isn't at tempo.

Trouble spots

It finds the weak bars for you.

After a take, Xascada ranks the fragments that fought you — fumbled notes, a hesitation — by how urgently they want practice. Drill the worst one in isolation, then check the verdict. No guessing where the run fell apart.

Practice library

Your pieces and your takes, in one place.

The MIDI files you're learning sit next to the recordings of what you've actually played, with a practice-cadence calendar underneath. Open a piece to practise or drill it; every session is kept so you can see the work add up.

Live mode

Play live over USB MIDI.

Plug in a keyboard and every key you press lands as light in real time. Xascada lists your connected devices, and a top bar reads the key, chord, Roman numeral and chord function — parallel, relative, subdominant, dominant — as you play. No file, no take, just you playing.

Practice questions, answered.

Does Xascada follow the ABRSM grades?

Yes. The exercise library spans Grade 1 to Grade 8 — scales, arpeggios, broken chords and contrary motion — each tagged by hand, octaves and tempo.

What is step-mode drill?

Step-mode waits for the right note before it moves on. You drill a hard bar at the pace you can play it cleanly, and the engine keeps time with you rather than running ahead.

What does a run report?

Each scored run returns accuracy, a weighted score, your longest streak and max multiplier, a perfect / good / miss split, and a star rating against your personal best — with a note when a clean pass still isn't at tempo.
