FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything people ask before they download. Short, honest, and named — the same facts the product pages state, gathered in one place.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial: download Xascada, plug in a MIDI keyboard, and play the whole instrument. Nothing is charged until day 14, and if you cancel before then you pay nothing.

Do I need a MIDI keyboard?

No. Open a MIDI file and it plays through the built-in synth, or load it into a graded drill. Plug in a USB MIDI keyboard when you want to play live and have your notes become light in real time.

Does Xascada make sound?

Yes. It has a built-in synth, so a MIDI file plays back on its own. Plug in a MIDI keyboard to play live, and when you export a video you can use the synth or your own recording as the audio.

What does Pro cost?

After the 14-day free trial, $4.99 a month, or $49.99 a year (that's $4.17 a month, billed annually). Both plans are the same Pro. Cancel anytime from your account.

Can I export vertical video for TikTok, Reels and Shorts?

Yes. Cinematic Export offers YouTube 1080p (16:9, 1920×1080) and TikTok / Reels / Shorts (9:16, 1080×1920), both at 30fps. The vertical export reframes the scene for a phone and shades the bands where those apps overlay their UI, so you can see what stays visible before you render.

Can I cancel?

Yes, anytime, from your Xascada account. Cancel during the trial and you're never charged. After it, you keep Pro until the end of the period you've paid for, and we don't charge you again.

Does it follow the ABRSM grades?

Yes. The exercise library spans Grade 1 to Grade 8 — scales, arpeggios, broken chords and contrary motion — each tagged by hand, octaves and tempo, with scored runs and a personal best.

What do I need to run it?

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, or macOS 12 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel. A MIDI keyboard is optional; you can open MIDI files and play them through the built-in synth without one. iPad is coming soon.

Is my playing private?

Yes. Your playing, recordings and exports stay on your machine. Xascada only talks to our servers to sign you in and check your Pro subscription. This website sets no tracking cookies.

Can I use my own recording as the audio?

Yes. When you open Cinematic Export, you choose the audio: the built-in synth, or your own recording. Either way the video renders to YouTube 1080p (16:9) at 30fps.

What does cinematic export actually produce?

A 1920×1080, 30fps video of your performance — the same view you see while it plays — written wherever you choose, ready to share.

Does it really cover all eight ABRSM grades?

Yes. The exercise library spans Grade 1 to Grade 8 — scales, arpeggios, broken chords and contrary motion — with step-mode drilling and scored runs that track your personal best.
